Top 50 Free Agents List

Sun Sep 28, 2008 11:08 pm by Mattster

This is a List i just found on the Top 50 Free Agents this year. I really like this list. It makes a lot of sense.

1. Mark Teixera- Angels. This is a very close one between the Yankees and Angels. I will go with the Angels, though, because the Yankees primary target is CC Sabathia, not Mark Teixera. I think they will end up with Sabathia, leaving the Angels for a return of Tex.

2. CC Sabathia- Yankees. The Yankees are going to throw around a lot of money this offseason. Just like the Mark Teixera prediction, it is a 2 team battle between the Yankees and a different LA team: the Dodgers for Sabathia. The Yankees are very likely to sign at least one of them. I was going to put CC with the Dodgers, but I think Frank McCourt will not let GM Ned Coletti go out and waste his money on a signing that could end up looking like the Jason Schmidt one.

Who do you think deserves to be the AL MVP

Thu Sep 25, 2008 8:47 pm by Mattster

This question has been going through my mind for the last month. At the All Star Break, I thought for sure Josh Hamilton would win the AL MVP. He's cooled a lot in the Second half but he still has pretty darn good numbers. Right now he has a .304 batting average, 31 Home Run, and 126 RBI's. Even though those numbers look really swell, I think this Year's AL MVP race comes down to more than just stats. I believe it comes down to value on one's team. Dustin Pedroia has been very valuable down the stretch for the Red Sox. His numbers aren't bad, considering the fact he's only 5' 8 or so and he's a pretty good defensive second baseman. He's stepped up a lot in the absence of Manny leaving. He's hitting .325 and he's got 82 RBI's, 17 Home Runs, 20 SB, and 118 runs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Pedroia fan, but who else in the American League has been more important down the stretch for ones team than Pedroia has been for the Sox.
